Citation-output gap
Citation-output gap is the mismatch between what a cited source actually supports and what an AI-generated answer says while displaying that source.
It is narrower than canon-output gap. The citation-output gap tests whether the displayed citation supports the answer claim. The canon-output gap tests whether the whole answer respects the governing corpus.
Canonical definition of proof of fidelity: the minimum evidence required to show that an AI output remains faithful to the canon rather than merely plausible.
Canonical definition of answer legitimacy: the conditions that determine whether an AI system should answer, qualify, refuse, escalate or expose uncertainty.
